Marilyn Garman Portfolio - Quotes Project
Challenge:
To build departmental presence on the Ringling College campus and facilitate a shared vision between two neighboring departments.
Faculty members selected quotes that inspired and related to their teachings, spirit, and methodologies. The quotes were then designed to highlight and draw interest upon entering the academic center.
Result:
The wall features quotes selected by faculty from both departments using the space, with equal distribution, and is united through the use of a minimal, high-contrast, and bold color palette.
The fonts vary in accordance to the tone of the quote and balances playful curiosity with deep contemplation.
Student Project Showcase
Challenge:
To create a display to showcase student projects and build awareness regarding the work that the Business of Art and Design creates.
Unique Project Parameters:
Creating continuity and cohesion between varying project presentation designs was challenging due to inconsistent imagery and in some cases poor image quality submissions. As part of the solution, rebuilding, replacing, and re-imagining the work was necessary in order to build an optimum presentation.
Result:
Eighteen individual panels were build and unified through consistent format, header style, and typeface.

Challenge:
The challenge was to create event marketing designs for invitations, posters, and premiums on behalf of several academic departments, each with a unique purpose and audience.
Result:
Despite the varying requirements, Mari created designs with specific intents and interests for each event, ranging from holiday parties to professional networking events. The resulting designs were well-received and successfully conveyed the tone and theme of each occasion.

Challenge:
To capture the essence of important and unique moments at significant client events, such as business conferences, award ceremonies, speeches, and weddings, is crucial to tell the story of life's greatest occasions. The challenge was to plan, anticipate, and capture the big moments and the small details that make the event special.

With advanced experience in retouching imagery or creating art portraiture from raw images, Mari has fine-tuned her ability to capture the essence of the event and create a compelling story through her photographs.

Challenge:
Conducted a study of lighting techniques for advertisement across various products and objects. Different surface materials, including glass, metals, food, and flora which presented unique challenges that yielded a deeper understanding of studio lighting principles.
Result:
From a thorough study, Mari has gained a deeper understanding of these challenges and developed techniques to capture compelling imagery that showcases the beauty and uniqueness of each product and object. The result was high-quality art prints that effectively communicated the intended message's tone, style, and mood to the target audiences.
