Marilyn Garman Portfolio - Quotes Project

Challenge:

To build departmental presence on the Ringling College campus and facilitate a shared vision between two neighboring departments. 

Faculty members selected quotes that inspired and related to their teachings, spirit, and methodologies. The quotes were then designed to highlight and draw interest upon entering the academic center.

Result:

The wall features quotes selected by faculty from both departments using the space, with equal distribution, and is united through the use of a minimal, high-contrast, and bold color palette. 

The fonts vary in accordance to the tone of the quote and balances playful curiosity with deep contemplation.

Student Project Showcase

Challenge:

To create a display to showcase student projects and build awareness regarding the work that the Business of Art and Design creates. 

Unique Project Parameters:

Creating continuity and cohesion between varying project presentation designs was challenging due to inconsistent imagery and in some cases poor image quality submissions.  As part of the solution, rebuilding, replacing, and re-imagining the work was necessary in order to build an optimum presentation.

Result:

Eighteen individual panels were build and unified through consistent format, header style, and typeface. 

Marilyn Garman Portfolio - Department Event Marketing

Challenge:

The challenge was to create event marketing designs for invitations, posters, and premiums on behalf of several academic departments, each with a unique purpose and audience.

Result:

Despite the varying requirements, Mari created designs with specific intents and interests for each event, ranging from holiday parties to professional networking events. The resulting designs were well-received and successfully conveyed the tone and theme of each occasion.

Challenge:

Mari was challenged to create various design concepts, such as periodical layouts, posters, and premiums, for classroom applications and on-campus events. The task required her to cater to the diverse interests and preferences of the target audience, making the project even more challenging.

Result:

Despite the project's complex nature, Mari created exceptional designs that catered to the specific intents and interests of each event or classroom project. She carefully considered the overall tone and theme of each occasion and project brief, resulting in a set of designs that accurately reflected the needs and preferences of the target audience. As a result, her designs were well-received by the academic departments and their respective audiences, meeting the expectations of all stakeholders involved.

Challenge:
To capture the essence of important and unique moments at significant client events, such as business conferences, award ceremonies, speeches, and weddings, is crucial to tell the story of life's greatest occasions. The challenge was to plan, anticipate, and capture the big moments and the small details that make the event special.

Results:
The results were consistently happy clients who were satisfied with the quality of work delivered. With advanced experience in retouching imagery or creating art portraiture from raw images, Mari has fine-tuned her ability to capture the essence of the event and create a compelling story through her photographs.

Challenge:

Capturing portraits for a diverse range of clients with unique intentions for their images presents a challenge. The challenge includes ensuring that the images are suitable for various purposes, including marketing, promotional materials, modeling portfolios, and personal keepsakes.

Result:

To overcome this challenge, Mari developed a deep understanding of lighting techniques across outdoor, indoor, and studio settings. She combined this knowledge with her ability to anticipate and provoke responses from subjects to create beautiful images that perfectly captured their personality and essence. She ensured clients received high-quality images that exceeded their expectations.

Marilyn Garman Portfolio - Still Life

Challenge:

Conducted a study of lighting techniques for advertisement across various products and objects. Different surface materials, including glass, metals, food, and flora which presented unique challenges that yielded a deeper understanding of studio lighting principles.

Result:

From a thorough study, Mari has gained a deeper understanding of these challenges and developed techniques to capture compelling imagery that showcases the beauty and uniqueness of each product and object. The result was high-quality art prints that effectively communicated the intended message's tone, style, and mood to the target audiences.
